Feeding on a diet of small fish, insects, and even pellets, they are carnivorous hunters. Providing a varied diet is essential for their health and vibrancy.

While stunning, Arowanas can be territorial and aggressive, particularly when housed with fish of similar size or resembling prey. Therefore, it’s crucial to select tank mates wisely, opting for larger, peaceful species that won’t fit into the Arowana’s mouth.

Due to their size and territorial nature, Silver Arowanas are best suited for experienced aquarists who can manage their large tank requirements and address their specific needs. Tanks should be sizable, ideally exceeding 250 gallons, with ample space for swimming and jumping, as these fish are known to leap from the water to catch prey.

Maintaining pristine water conditions is vital. Arowanas thrive in slightly acidic to neutral water with temperatures between 75-82°F (24-28°C) and a pH level of 6.5-7.5. Regular water changes and a powerful filtration system are necessary to ensure a healthy environment for these magnificent creatures.
