*SALE PENDING
A very sad sale of my lovely mare, whom I have had for 6 years. With full history known since a foal, types like her do not come about often. She is a stunning cob with a beautiful, evenly marked coat. She will be 12 in Aug.
She is a sturdy weight carrier (around 570kg) with four silky white feathers, a long tail and mane. She has massively built up my confidence after a nasty few falls from previous horses. We have hacked over 1000 miles together and have had a go at just about everything!
She is fantastic at long-distance rides, pleasure rides, pole work clinics, popping little jumps, and hacking. Would do endurance. A genuine all-rounder who will school nicely and is forward-going. 100% in open spaces, doesn’t get silly and will pull up and listen to you. She never throws in a cheeky buck or bronc. Has never reared. She’s been a sensible lead to younger horses.
She hacks alone and in company. You could put a novice rider on her in the school; I have, and my mum has had lessons on her with no bother.
Out hacking, she needs a more competent rider who will keep her thinking forward. She can be a bit spooky or ‘looky’ but never unsafe. Fantastic to do gates on, good with farm animals, dogs, bikes, etc., you name it, she’s seen it. She will go in front or behind.
Good to be overtaken and overtake horses at a ride, I’ve taken her on my own. Good to load, travel, shoe (currently barefoot but has been fully shod too) and clip, except her legs, where you would need to sedate her (sedalin/domosedan). Fantastic to tack up and groom. Good at the block and stands still.
Can be a typical cob on the ground - needs to know her boundaries with firm and fair handling but still a nice person. Never bites/kicks. Loves people, loves to be groomed, etc.
She loves other horses and thrives with equine company. She will stable or be out 24/7. She comes in on her own and is sensible. She needs to be turned out with or very close to others; she’s currently in a herd of mares and has geldings on the other side of the fence. She has lived with geldings, too.
She will school nicely and could show or do intro/prelim dressage, with fine-tuning. She’s lovely and forward in school and tries really hard. Not a plod!
The last jump clinic I took her to, she loved, and this could be worked on. She’s low miles in terms of anything hard; we’ve done lots of hacking, lessons, pole clinics and long-distance rides.
She has done horse holidays, beach, pub, woods, and Newmarket and excelled at them all. You can leave her for weeks and get back on, and she’s no different. She has been tried and tested in almost every discipline!
Considerations:
She can be mareish with other horses (not people). She is the lead mare; she’s quite dominant and has kicked out at horses before (never harmed, but she has done it & rarely at that).
She would likely make a lovely broodmare and is quite big. She has not had a foal.
She likes some space between her and huge HGVs (understandably). I pop her into the layby or a drive, turn her to face it, and she’s fine; she has seen huge vehicles and is otherwise good in traffic. I have videos of her standing quietly. We do roadwork on most hacks, we are in Essex!
She can be sensitive to dust if she’s in a stable/barn environment. Living out, she’s fine, but indoors, you’d need soaked hay/haylage and dust-extracted bedding to keep her happy.
She had a recent bout of pastern dermatitis caused by an overreach cut which has now cleared up. She needs general feather care, as is common with the breed.
She is for sale because we have 3 horses, and it is no longer financially viable.
Up to date with everything, vacs, teeth, physio, saddle fit etc. Nothing to hide, and it’s hard to let her go, so a lovely home is of paramount importance. Her price includes all her tack, including a Wintec saddle, Micklem, other bridles, professionally fitted bits and some rugs. Open to vetting. Please do not waste my time, as this is a very hard decision, and I want the best for her.
She will turn her hoof to most things but she’s a proven happy hacker. Someone who may need a confidence boost and a friend to enjoy the countryside with, but not a complete novice.
She would make a lovely mother/daughter share, family horse, etc. My partner has ridden her, who is 5ft 11 and a confident novice. She takes up the leg very well.
I have an entire Instagram page full of her, which I’m happy to share with genuine applicants. She is advertised elsewhere.
Open to vetting, she flew a 2-stage with no issues and has never had soundness issues, no lumps/bumps or sarcoid and has clean limbs.
My aim of this advert is for her to find a long term happy home & no surprises for the new owner.
