The Long Fin White Widow Tetra is a graceful, selectively bred variant of the Black Skirt Tetra, featuring flowing fins and a soft, pale silvery-white body. Peaceful, hardy, and constantly in motion, it makes a beautiful addition to community aquariums.
Originally from South America, particularly Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. This colour morph is captive-bred for the aquarium trade.
Omnivorous and easy to feed. Accepts flakes, micro-pellets, frozen foods (daphnia, brine shrimp), and the occasional live food treat to enhance vitality.
Excellent community fish. Compatible with peaceful species such as rasboras, tetras, small barbs, corydoras, and dwarf gouramis. Avoid fin-nippers that may target the tetra’s elongated fins.
Generally peaceful, though may show light chasing within their group. Best kept in schools of 6 or more to reduce stress and ensure natural behaviour.
Ideal for beginners due to their hardiness, social nature, and undemanding care requirements.
Temperature: 72°F – 80°F (22°C – 27°C)
pH: 6.0 – 7.5
Hardness: 4 – 15 dGH
Elegant, active, and easy to maintain, the Long Fin White Widow Tetra is a perfect choice for peaceful community aquariums.
