The Long Fin Black Widow Tetra is a flowing-finned variant of the classic Black Skirt Tetra, known for its striking black-and-silver body and elegant, elongated fins. Hardy, active, and social, it brings movement and contrast to community aquariums.
Native to South America, particularly river basins in Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. The long-fin morph is selectively captive-bred for the aquarium hobby.
Omnivorous and very adaptable. Enjoys flakes, micro-pellets, frozen foods (brine shrimp, daphnia), and occasional live foods to promote colour and vitality.
Excellent for peaceful community tanks. Suitable companions include rasboras, peaceful tetras, dwarf cichlids, corydoras, and small gouramis. Avoid fin-nipping species due to their delicate, flowing fins.
Mostly peaceful with only mild chasing, especially when kept in smaller groups. Best maintained in schools of 6 or more to reduce stress and encourage natural behaviour.
Great for beginners—hardy, adaptable, and easy to care for.
